Faustino’s Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 1,200-1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the area’s chalky soil.
Grapes are de-stemmed and undergo fermentation at 75°F. The grapes then go through a 16 day maceration period followed by 10 months of ageing in 100% American oak. The wine spends an additional 6 months in the bottle before being released.
